MORTGAGE UNDERWRITER

Location: Lakewood, CO (no relocation offered)


The candidate for this position must be able to complete all facets of an underwriting review of closed residential mortgage loans.  This individual must possess knowledge of the loan process with various types of mortgage documents and investor requirements, as well as a variety of loan types which may include sub-prime loans. The underwriter should also have a working knowledge of federal, state, and local compliance requirements, and the ability to complete the applicable testing using compliance software.  In addition, s/he must have strong organizational and accuracy skills with the ability to prioritize assignments and have the ability to work in a team environment.  The position is temporary, but depending on the individual it could lead to a permanent position within the company.


Qualifications: 


·        Need to have some amount of experience in the mortgage underwriting / due diligence arena


·        Working knowledge of federal, state and local compliance requirements


·        Strong organizational skills with the aptitude to be detail oriented


·        Demonstrate professional oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all    levels of individuals, both internal and external


·        Demonstrate ability to work effectively, accurately, with great attention to detail


·        Demonstrate strong problem solving skills and ability to determine effective solutions


·        Review and evaluate information on mortgage loans according to standard underwriting guidelines


·        Assess loan attributes and documentation for soundness and accuracy


·        Review and evaluate loan files for risk mitigation


·        Perform a loan level detailed review and analysis to identify rebuttals as it relates to a repurchase demand


·        Verify loan file data, including findings and calculations to determine loan compliance


·        Ability to run compliance testing to identify miscalculations, document errors and predatory origination practices


·        Request additional information pertaining to specific loans as necessary


·        Perform such other related tasks or duties as company may assign in its discretion


·        Proficient with MS Office programs


·        Ability to be flexible, function independently, prioritize work, and handle several tasks simultaneously


·     Ability to manage contract underwriters if needed
