
Responsible for mechanical design, development & qualification of Panasonic's LRUs from the standpoints of Thermal, Structural Rigidity, Acoustics, EMI, ESD, DFM, DFT to meet customer's
requirements. Uses professional concepts to resolve a variety of issues. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
MECHANICAL ENEGINEERING Duties
Performs design, development & including Mechanical layout, analysis, evaluation, prototype build, and testing of LRU components & systems. Participates with members of management in the design and development of products and analysis of customer requirements by assisting in the determination of a problem solution while giving consideration to form, fit, function, thermal, Structural Rigidity, weight, EMI, DFM, DFT, product marketing and cost.
• Designs and develops LRU Sheetmetal & Plastic Enclosure and assemblies.
• Performs qualitative and quantitative Thermal/Mechanical Shock/Vibration Analysis of LRUs to
determine Thermal/Dynamic Characteristics, and performance of materials, mechanisms, assemblies and systems.
• Records and analyzes LRU test data. Selects hardware and material assuring compliance with specifications and product requirements.
• Coordinates with LRU procurement, manufacturing, Obsolescence, Product Planning and Material Planning departments for the selection and ordering of parts, materials, components, or processes with vendors and suppliers.
• Works directly with technicians, mechanical designers, or other technical support personnel as required.
• Applies standard mathematical and hands-on techniques, procedures and criteria to engineering
Assignments.
• Communicates and sustains the Development and Design of the LRU Mechanical Parts with
overseas manufacturing division to ensure product manufacturability.
• Works with the respective Project Manager or when required independently to generate and update LRU Design and Development schedules.
Mechanical Engineer will be assigned to a project or as part of a team to support the LRU design, Development and Qualification or enhancement of the existing LRU design.
Minimum Education: A BSME degree in applicable Engineering discipline required.
Minimum Experience: This position typically requires minimum of 5-8 years of experience.
· Principles of engineering or science attained through a BS or BSME degree in college level training and 5-8 years experience in areas - Computer/Laptop/Ultramobile PC Design, Thermal, Strength of Materials, Properties of Materials and Machine Design.
· Ability to assist in determining and developing requirements from specifications, oral instructions, or preliminary sketches.
· Ability to design using Pro/E (Wildfire) MCAD Tool and analyzing LRU and equipment using conventional and CFD/FEA Analysis tools.
· Ability to assist in developing and implementing test methods and procedures under the supervision of Management.
· Must have technical writing ability to prepare reports and documentation for submission to management.
· Personal hands-on engineering projects (Computers, Laptops, Utramobile PC) to meet Avionics Environmental/EMI/ESD/Safety Test Requirements per Boeing, Airbus and RTCA/DO-160E type requirements
