POSITION DESCRIPTION

FOR

MV-22 AVIONICS TECHNICIAN

INTRODUCTION:  The MV-22 Avionics Technician will troubleshoot and/or repair malfunctions in the aircraft electrical systems and all other supporting aircraft systems that require electrician skills and knowledge.  Must be able to perform assigned maintenance to specified MV-22 standards to include performing calibration procedures and required functional tests.  Must be able to inspect, test and repair Communication and Navigation (COM/NAV), avionics and electrical aircraft-related support systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

1.      Perform periodic inspections as required by Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs) and/or as assigned by Maintenance Control.

2.      Troubleshoot COM/NAV, avionics, electrical and auxiliary components.

3.      Remove, inspect, reinstall and/or replace aircraft component parts and electrical wiring as directed by approved maintenance manuals/procedures and/or Maintenance Control.

4.      Inspect and make repairs to COM/NAV and electrical wiring used in the aircraft and individual component operations.

5.      Monitor scheduled/unscheduled inspections and annotate pertinent data on MRC card validation/verification study matrix.  Identify areas possessing significant maintenance errors or technical differences between the technical manual (requirements) and what is conducted in accordance with the MRC deck specifications.

6.      Create and complete applicable maintenance data forms as applicable.  Adhere to accurate and timely administrative procedures.

7.      Comply with policies and procedures as set forth in the company’s Handbook of Policy and Procedure.

8.      Comply with the provisions of the corporation’s Standard Practice Procedures manual and DoD 5220.22-M when handling classified information to include generating, marking, storing, handling and destroying of classified material, if required.

9.      Work, cooperate and communicate, as directed, with supervisors, team leaders and coworkers satisfactorily.  This includes the professional, mature acceptance of constructive criticism.

10.  Travel as required.

11.  Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION:

1.      Must be qualified to pre-op and operate required test equipment and supporting test equipment in the conduct of flight line maintenance and maintenance of installed aircraft systems/components and equipment for work center operations.

2.      Must be able to use and care for power tools and precision measuring devices in the maintenance and repair of aircraft.

3.      Must be qualified to operate support equipment in support of all work center operations to include flight line maintenance and maintenance of installed aircraft systems/components and equipment for work center operations.

4.      Must meet all safety requirements/specifications in the use, application, test and operation of all support equipment, test equipment, and other equipment in the operation and support of assigned work center and/or flight line maintenance actions. 

5.      Must be observant and follow all safety rules for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and rules/regulations of the squadron safety program.

6.      Must possess and be able to apply practical knowledge of wiring schematics of aircraft electrical systems and interpretation of technical data.

7.      Must have a working knowledge of electrical wiring/systems and the principles of their use as applicable to COM/NAV, avionics, and electrical systems.

8.      Must have strong knowledge of Maintenance Instruction Manuals (MIMS) and all associated maintenance publications, orders, and directives and the processes to document such maintenance actions.

9.      Must be capable of researching and complying with Technical Directive (TD) requirements for aircraft COM/NAV and electrical system and components. 

10.  Must possess and be able to apply practical knowledge of schematic drawings and blueprints/charts of aircraft COM/NAV and electrical systems and the interpretation of technical data.

11.  Must have a working knowledge of COM/NAV and electrical systems to include; aircraft modification procedures and experience with specific avionics systems, e.g., databus, antennas, software, displays, communications/navigation equipment, systems integration, system/component failure analysis, inspection, repair, and testing of COM/NAV and electrical systems.

12.  Must possess a minimum of two (2) years experience equivalent to U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 6326

13.  Must be able to qualify for and maintain certification for a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI)/Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR).

14.  Must have or be able to obtain, at a minimum, a Secret Clearance.

15.  Your work will be on a government installation; therefore you must be cleared for access.
