Machine Designer
Bauer is a leading aerospace company with over sixty years experience in the aircraft component test equipment field. We have 60 employees located in Bristol, CT, which is about 19 miles southwest of Hartford.
The Machine Designer position is responsible for the detail mechanical machine design of these systems.
The position requires knowledge of:
A capacity to design using various materials is required. Designs will typically be for engineered structural elements incorporated into our products and tooling or fixtures associated with adapting aircraft components to Bauer’s test equipment. Strong teamwork and communication skills are required to succeed in the position. An in-depth understanding of machining techniques, processes and geometric tolerance is a must. Reverse engineering/design experience is a plus. Taking on full design responsibility and working with Project Engineers while using other resources such as Aircraft Component Maintenance Manuals to derive final designs which often are equivalent OEM tools.
CAD experience in 2D and 3D is essential; we use SolidWorks 2009 and CADKEY 19.
On occasion it will be required to assume a leadership role in a design project involving mechanical products which are part of our standard product base.
Occasional travel will be required.
