Machine Operator

Position Summary and Objectives:

To lead assigned packaging line activities and staff.  Must ensure efficient production and compliance with all Company quality, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions: (list most important first)

• Line set up, start-up, operation, clearance, changeover, cleaning
• Ensure correct raw and packaging materials (only) are used on the line
• Machine setup, startup, operation, changeover, cleaning, safety
• Pre-op and hourly checks performed and documented
• Attendance complete and correct w/in 15 minutes of start of shift
• Line records and reports completed correctly and on time
• Line coverage during shift with trained employees
• Line set up correctly for on-coming shift
• Ensure adequate housekeeping, crew assignments, communication, and training are maintained on assigned line during shift;
• Report problems including personnel issues to Supervisor
• Demonstrate full knowledge of and compliance with Company Quality and Good Manufacturing Practices policies and procedures.
• Review and assure appropriate knowledge of and adherence to Quality/GMP standards by all staff in assigned area.
• Address and/or escalate and document all Quality/GMP compliance issues or concerns.
• Refer overtime work requirements to Supervisor

Essential Job Requirements: (list most important first)

• At least two years of experience operating industrial machines, preferably food packaging/processing equipment
• Demonstrated mechanical expertise in a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated ability to achieve production targets, lead people and activities
• Ability to quickly learn and comply with Company safety, quality, Good Manufacturing, and other required policies and procedures
• High School diploma/equivalent required, Associate Degree preferred

Additional Information or Requirements:

Standing for long periods of time; lifting up to 50 lbs.; exposure to noise levels requiring hearing protection.
