This position has overall responsibility for growing and managing the profitable operation of a small machine shop that specializes in rotating equipment service and repair.  Vigor Machine performs custom machining for a wide range of large and small customers, both nationally and internationally.  The work requires a strong background in managing all facets of a rotating equipment service company.  The General Manager directs sales from conception to project completion, assures outstanding service and customer interaction, marketing and financing production operations.

DUTIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
• Provides general management over finance, sales, estimating, manufacturing, and quality assurance/control for the service and manufacturing efforts.
• Leads the creation of a company image and quality which will distinguish Vigor Machine as the premier service center within the regional and international market and thereby attract new business.
• Develops key customer contacts and nurtures long-term relationships; involves appropriate members of the organization in multi-level selling; creates and maintains methods for measuring and tracking customer satisfaction; manages customer contract issues and develops appropriate framing of terms and conditions; maintains necessary balance of customer service and business protection. 
• Oversees and directs planning and management of equipment, and work force utilization.
• Leads and directs the work of others; develops trains and provides performance feedback to the supervisor; determines staffing requirements and works through corporate human resources for recruiting, employee relations and other personnel services needs.
• Assures accurate forecasting of operating costs; ensures the most efficient and effective deployment of limited resources to ensure project success; partners with other business units to maximize staffing resources. 
• Supports the business mission and vision through modeling the desired behaviors and communicating and reinforcing the messages through daily activities and interactions.
• May be required to meet certain certifications in field.

REQUIRED BACKGROUND AND SKILLS:
• Experience equivalent to a Bachelors’ Degree with at least 10 years of related and responsible sales management in a machine shop environment that specializes in rotating equipment service and repair. 
• Proven skill in developing and maintaining productive customer relationships through effective sales and estimating techniques.
• Proven leadership skills.
• Must have effective written and oral communication skills, and show the ability to make sense of complex product specifications.
• Knowledge of the production processes and process improvements in a commodity driven competitive production environment.
• Skilled with the motivation and inspiration of employees.
• Ability to prepare and analyze complex reports.
• Ability to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 
• Shows a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands for this position are moderate to heavy.  They include frequent standing, walking, kneeling, and climbing in external climates.  The work environment for this job is demanding and potentially hazardous due to work on or inside ships as well as travel around the ship repair yard and industrial service sights.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
