Machinist

Assist in fabrication of various components to include machining precision piece parts. Maintains and operates metal working equipment. Assignments may include all other duties as assigned. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems in various types of equipment. Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher level technician and work is reviewed for specific compliance with accepted practices and work assignments. May provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.

 

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

 High school graduate or equivalent. Two years formal technical training or military training with two years related experience, or four years related experience in lieu of formal training, with a demonstrated ability to perform. Must have hands on Computer Numerical Control (CNC) training or experience.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

 

Must be able to:

     Plan, perform, and operate complex machining operations using CNC equipment.

     Read schematics and blueprints.

     Demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform repairs on electromechanical items.

 Demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in using precision measuring equipment.

 Demonstrate the ability to identify and analyze metal alloys.

 

Security Clearances:

 

Must be able to qualify for a USPS non-sensitive security clearance.
