Stange Company, a jewelry manufacturer located in the Westport area of St. Louis, has an immediate opening for a Machinist with 3+ years of relevant work experience.
As a Machinist for Stange Company, you will be an important member of the team that manufacturers jewelry; determines sequence of operations; prepares machine(s) for production; regulates machining; produces parts; maintains specifications and stock inventory; resolves equipment issues; ensures operation of equipment and must promote and demonstrate safe work practices at all times.
Duties and responsibilities
- Set-up and run many types of machine tools and precision measuring instruments such as mills, drills, lathes, grinders, calipers, hydraulic and punch presses, etc.
- Fabrication and repair of dies and fixtures and ability to recommend tool and assembly method improvements.
- Maintain a high level of efficiency and quality of work produced.
- Demonstrate safety awareness, good workmanship practices and continuous improvement.
- Maintain, repair and modify dies and molds that will be able to produce high quality parts on daily basis to meet production level targets.
Requirements
- Must have experience in setting up and operating standard machine shop equipment.
- High School or equivalent and trade school education
- Must be a self starter. Ability to work independently and be productive without significant supervision
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Familiarity with machining properties such as hardness and heat tolerance of a wide variety of common metals and alloys.
- All tools required are provided by company.
