Hudson is looking for a Mainframe Operations Specialist for a 3 month contract opportunity in Fort Worth,TX.Ideal Candidate will be doing the below listed functions.
Essential Functions: 1. Operate, maintain, and monitor performance of assigned information systems, networks, and peripheral equipment; perform rou¬tine maintenance and repair functions as appropriate. 2. Monitor information system performance with appropriate devices and software; interpret console messages and initiate corrective action within scope of knowledge, if needed. 3. Maintain a variety of records, including problem documenta¬tion and corrective action taken; prepare reports on usage performance of equipment. 4. Produce reports, files, and other information as assigned; review input material and finished product for accuracy and completeness. 5. Operate printers according to program routines and data requirements; print and dis¬tribute reports, forms and correspondence within assigned department or division. 6. Participate in the input of data and retrieving data as required by application systems. 7. Provide assistance to system users via telephone or on-line systems as necessary.
Marginal Functions: 1. Assist those contacted in the course of duty in an effec¬tive, efficient, and professional manner. 2. Contact computer product and service vendors on behalf of Client's computer users; place calls to obtain services and repairs as appropriate. 3. Provide technical assistance to staff, 4. Perform database maintenance including update, quality control and backup duties. 5. Assist with installation and maintenance of peripheral equipment as necessary. 6. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Computer hardware, software, systems, networks, and peripherals used by the Client; personal computers and mainframe operations. Principle and practices of data processing. Computer programming languages and computer system configuration. Word processing and data base applications. Preparing clear and concise reports. Departmental rules, regulations and procedures relevant to information systems and services.
Ability to: Operate assigned computer equipment; monitor assigned computer systems. Solve computer problems and difficulties related to assigned division. Analyze computer output for accuracy. Organize and assign priorities for work to be accomplished. Provide assistance and support to Client's computer system users. Follow specific instructions for generating assigned reports. Interpret and explain policies and procedures. Prepare clear and concise reports. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for: - making observations - communicating with others - reading and writing - operating assigned equipment.
Ability to: Maintain mental capacity which permits: - making sound decisions and using good judgment - demonstrating intellectual capabilities. Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: - sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time - operating assigned equipment.
