Simmons, a leading manufacturer in the bedding industry, has an immediate opening for an experienced Mechanic for our Kansas City facility.

This position will be responsible for repair and maintenance of all plant machinery including electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, building maintenance, welding and other duties as necessary.

Essential duties and Responsibilities:  Repair and maintain all machinery in the plant, including sewing machines, quilt and border machines, packing machines, hot melt bond and coiler machines. Repair and maintain lift trucks.  Welding and fabrication.  Able to handle large variety of machine and electrical repair under pressure of production schedule.  Comply with all Simmons Safety and Operation Policies and Procedures.  Maintain clean and safe work areas. Other duties as assigned.

Must possess experience, education and/or vocational training in sewing machine repair. Familiarity with electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.  Must possess ability to analyze repair problems using independent thinking and troubleshooting skills.  Prefer high school diploma or equivalent; trade or vocational school training; 4-6 years experience. Must be flexible and able to work 1st or 2nd shift as necessary. 

Candidates will be required to pass a technical test.
