Verenium is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join the team!

Verenium Corporation, a global leader in the development of cellulosic ethanol as an alternative fuel and in the development and production of specialty industrial enzymes, has an employment opportunity available for a Maintenance Engineer within the Jennings, LA Engineering team.  The Maintenance Engineering position is essential in providing leadership, coaching and technical expertise to the WCM maintenance taking place at our Louisiana facility. Candidates interested in this position should possess excellent time management and organizational skills in order to prioritize and properly manage a team of engineering technicians and supervise maintenance personnel.

Additional responsibilities outlined for this position include:

·         Management of systems, generate schedules for routine as well as planned maintenance and deliver support to the maintenance teams during the execution of maintenance.

·         Coordination of data analysis of Maximo and Reliability software ensuring optimum efficiency and equipment integrity.

·         Ability to direct concurrent activities, prioritize and a lot personal involvement as necessary to ensure workload criteria meets expectations.

·         Must have the ability to comprehend technical manuals, drawing and schematics with little challenge.

·         Highly proficient in the application of technical knowledge to a variety of equipment when performing maintenance and upgrading equipment for increased performance output.

·         Responsible for surveying, design, conducting construction inspection and varied office engineering functions when preparing estimates, plans and specifications.

·         Preparation of detail reports with the inclusion of recommendation for corrective action.

·         Must have working knowledge of inventory control methods, procurement of parts, labor and services including establishment and continuous monitoring utilizing the cost efficient method without compromising performance quality.

·         Responsible for the supervision of journeyman level carpenters, plumbers, electricians, plasterers, painters and other maintenance work.

·         The position requires basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical and maintenance fundamentals. Additionally, machine shop practice and a thorough understanding of basic electricity is a must.

·         Display familiarity with the principals of fluidity (especially pressure/flow/volume characteristics), hydraulic applications, pneumatic applications, lubrications requirements and the varied techniques as well as a firm understanding of solid state components and systems.

·         Interested candidates should posses and have the ability to provide evidence of basic knowledge of programming techniques and electronic control devices for continuous production lines.

·         In this position there is a limited amount of administrative responsibility covering employee performance appraisals, leave request approvals and absentee documentation.

Educational requirements:

Minimum education level required is a Bachelors of Science in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.

Experience level required:

Five years in the building construction trades, mechanical trades, or general building maintenance. Three years must have occurred at the journeyman level.
