Maintenance Technician

aPURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

Provides maintenance support and expertise to all phases of the manufacturing facility and personnel to ensure that equipment and machinery is maintained and in proper working condition.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Provides manufacturing with maintenance support. Ensures that production and non-production equipment is properly repaired, with the exception of machining or making parts, within required timeline.

 

Builds, repairs, and maintains production support equipment. Works with Engineering/Manufacturing to build production support equipment such as, but not limited to, chutes, racks, conveyors, guards and ventilation equipment.  Performs routine maintenance and repair of such equipment.

 

Develops, implements, and maintains preventative maintenance programs. Ensures the completeness of the system.  Assists in the training and preventative maintenance programs for production associates.

 

Assists in the support of new program launches. Ensures the completeness of the system.  Assists in the training of preventative maintenance programs for production associates.

 

Provides support for continuous improvement activities.  Participates as a maintenance resource by developing and implementing improvements to support continuous improvement objectives and activities.

 

Troubleshoots equipment and machinery issues causing manufacturing issues and downtime. Problem solves and determines root causes to prevent issues from reoccurring.

 

Assists in building strong plant teams. Works to develop cooperative relationships between all levels of the organization.

 

Maintains and repairs all in-plant vehicles. This would include forklifts, milk run carts, man-lift, etc.

 

Performs routine building and facility repairs, maintenance and modification as needed. Not limited to plumbing, airlines, floor drains, layout changes, safety concerns, etc.

 

 

Participates as a member of the Maintenance Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies.  Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.  Attends appropriate team meetings.  As a member of the Maintenance Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.  Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas of lack of cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues effecting cohesiveness.  Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

 

Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. Educational Requirements

Experience Requirements

 

High school diploma or equivalent required.

AAS in technical discipline preferred.

 

Technical Experience:  Must demonstrate maintenance-type abilities.

 

 Industry Experience: Experience in a manufacturing environment required.  Working knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, principles, and tools preferred.

 

Technical Competencies – specifically related to this position

Interpersonal Skills: Good communication skills.  Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts. 

 

Project Management: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects under minimal supervision and meet required deadlines.
