Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Our client is seeking a Maintenance Technician for a contract-to-hire position.

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
Performs a variety of manual to highly-skilled tasks, including but not limited to machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance service, in order to support all areas of manufacturing and maintain the company facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.  Modifies PLC ladder programs to improve productivity and prevents breakdowns.  Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs.  Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.  Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules. Creates and maintains required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.  Orders parts for maintenance as needed. Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION:  High school diploma or its equivalent required.  Associate degree from a two-year collage or technical school preferred.
2 years experience in a electrical maintenance in the manufacturing industry with some experience in mechanical maintenance required.
SPECIFIC SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES:  Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. A thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purpose.
 Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment, and especially must be able to interface and communicate with line operators in order to assist with repairs and troubleshooting. High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances required. § Must be highly safety conscious.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (IF ANY):  Receives close to moderate supervision, depending on experience and complexity of task.  Expected to perform routine assignments independently following standard practice.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Climbing ladders.  Lifting more than 25 lbs.
