Maitre D’ / Banquet / Dining Room Manager

The Maitre D’/ Dining Room Manager is responsible for assisting in the proper delivery of all food and beverage items in a high volume fast-paced environment and oversees the operations of the dining facilities. This individual is responsible for the establishment of, and the smooth, efficient, ongoing service of all dining room functions. Successful candidates will possess the skills and leadership traits necessary to get all employees to follow him/her to reach our goals. Customer interaction, management ability and customer service are key components of this position. Must have ability to manage change effectively, demonstrate team building, and use a hands-on approach for daily operations in a fast-paced environment.
Specific Job Functions:
- Act as a liaison between the kitchen and dining room staff and functions.
- Works with Management to ensure all customer needs and requirements are met.
- Manages the food and beverage equipment, takes inventory when required and informs the Food & Beverage Manager if supplies are needed to meet the department’s needs.
- Continuously upgrades and upkeeps all buffet presentations to effectively display the items to the customers.
- Coordinates the general housekeeping of the entire catering department.
- Manages the preparation and presentation of food and drinks, and monitors adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Assigns work schedules for Food & Beverage service staff.
- Manage the food and beverage service staff by recruiting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, evaluating, supervising performance and carrying out disciplinary action as needed, in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws.
- Maintains customer satisfaction and employee productivity by handling customer inquiries, concerns or comments and providing solutions; acquiring feedback from customers and co-workers in order to ensure satisfaction and/or implement service improvement ideas; developing new concepts to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Protect the organization, the members and the guests by adhering to all safety, sanitation, food preparation, food storage and alcohol beverage control policies.
- Maintains positive results by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; monitoring and appraising job results.
- 3-5 years experience as a Maitre D’ in a high volume, luxury hotel, restaurant/catering establishment, resort or other related industry
- Experience with high-volume catering operations. Must have the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced hands-on environment
- Solid time management, organization and prioritization skills
- Proven ability to effectively build and foster a team environment
- Experience in resolving customer issues/complaints as well as overall excellent customer service required
- Working knowledge of point of sales systems and computerized reservation systems
- Good computer skills to include spreadsheets, word processing and e-mail
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
- Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance, adhering to Company standards.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- 21 years or older.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, with variable overtime.
