Make Ready/Pre-Press Packer

A developer of fruit-labeling systems is looking to hire a Make Ready/Pre- Press Packer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Make Ready/Pre-Press Packer:


  • Purchases inks and plate material, assists the Production Controller and helps with Plate-making. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Cleans and inspects plates for defects, and files accordingly if no defects are found. Notifies Pre-Press Coordinator and/or Label Production Supervisor when plates need to be replaced.
  • Inspects plates for defects when pulling them from files for work orders. Notifies Pre–Press Coordinator and/or Label Production Supervisor when plates need to be replaced.
  • Inventories plate material.
  • Places purchase orders as required.
  • Returns dies and inks to inventory if not in use.
  • Cleans ink pumps as needed.
  • Unloads and tags laminate material from delivery truck using forklift truck.
  • Performs laminate counts as needed.
  • Assists:


    • Shipping, Receiving, Rewind and Packing Department, as needed.
    • Press Operators with set-ups and clean-ups, as required.
    • Pre-Press Coordinator, as needed.
    • Production Controller, as needed.
    • With plate-making, as needed.
    • In mounting plates.
    • In mixing and color match inks using Pantone book, and draws down roller process, when required.


  • Weighs and supplies presses with solvents and inks. Notifies Pre-Press Coordinator if inks are not found. Keeps ink containers filled.
  • Every morning, accurately weighs all inks on production floor and updates records for VOC Emission Records/Reporting (these are one-gallon containers weighing approximately 8-9 pounds per container).
  • Maintains housekeeping to accepted standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

COMPUTER SKILLS


  • Knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet software as well as Microsoft Word and Outlook


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS


  • A self-motivated and organized individual with some computer, mechanical and cycle count knowledge required
  • Must be able to speak, write and understand English (good communications skills)
  • Should have good math skills
  • One year or more forklift experience required (previous company certification preferred)


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
