Title:

PURPOSE
 
Role will manage the application of analytics, business and technology to enable best in class execution, analysis and refinement of direct marketing programs.  This position is responsible for partnering with key internal business partners (merchandising, marketing, banners, finance, real estate, operations, etc) to identify and analyze opportunities to use analytics to drive improved marketing programs. Oversee resources required to build testing/targeting plans, execute campaigns, analyze and communicate results with respect to sales, market share, and customers’ impact, including customer segments.  This position may or may not have direct reports.  A key goal is to provide a single perspective of effectiveness, efficiency and ROI of merchandising and marketing initiatives. 
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
 
·         Manage and coordinate cross-functional team including off-shore analysts, third-party providers (e.g. Teradata) to leverage analytical and technical expertise in mining POS, loyalty card, and market share data
·         See the ‘big picture’ and condense complex statistical results into understandable, meaningful and actionable insights. Proactively provide recommendations and size potential opportunities
·         Speak both very technically regarding analysis and at a high level with clients in Marketing, Merchandising, et al, as appropriate. Possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written with all levels of management. Effectively partner with off-shore resources
·         Identify project team members as appropriate to address analytics challenges across functional teams (including Marketing, Merchandising, Finance, IT, et al)
·         Conduct complete formal analysis for question formulation to presentation of outcomes, including written recommendations
·         Project manages the development of frameworks and methodologies for analytics
·         Strong project management skills, with attention to details
·         Apply appropriate quantitative methods to analyze customer data and recommend key strategies that other groups can work against
·         Manage effectiveness (e.g. ROI) measurements of various merchandising and marketing programs through the customer segment lens
·         Work with a team of analysts including SUPERVALU India and external consultants to ensure accuracy and timeliness of delivery
·         Work with the leadership team in undertaking all aspects of the enterprise talent management process including performance management and career development
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
 
Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 
·         Bachelor’s degree in marketing, statistics or other quantitative fields; advanced degree preferred
·         3-5 years related experience required, 5-7 ideal
·         Prior experience with retail analytics, customer analytics, merchandising analytics, segmentation, campaign management and multi-channel CRM
·         Ability to conceptualize, manage and/or personally participate in analytical projects which involve advanced statistical processes such as Test and Control, Analysis of Variance and Multivariate Regression
·         Ability to solve complex problems using analytical frameworks including ability to implement marketing measurement practices to produce valid ROI, trending and predictive analysis
·         Prior experience with large relational databases
·         Proven ability to troubleshoot and develop creative, innovative solutions to business challenges
·         Experience in developing processes, tools and scorecards
·         Leadership skills/potential to lead cross-functional teams, division marketing teams and vendor experts
·         Demonstrated ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships
·         Expertise leading project groups and maintaining client relations, including business strategy, customer experience, and technology
·         Excellent PC and related spreadsheet application skills
