Disney Interactive Media Group (DIMG) is the division of The Walt Disney Company responsible for the creation and delivery of Disney branded interactive entertainment and informational content across multiple platforms including online, mobile and video game consoles around the globe.
DIMG oversees several lines of business. Disney Interactive Studios, which has five internal game development studios around the world, self publishes and distributes a broad portfolio of multi-platform video games, mobile games and interactive entertainment worldwide. Disney Online produces Disney.com, the No. 1 kids entertainment and family community Web site, for multiple platforms including PCs and mobile phones, as well as the Disney Family Network of Web sites for moms. POSITION SUMMARY
This position oversees Engineering and Integration projects and development tasks along with defining requirements, design, implementation, testing and release of new or enhanced systems for our E-Commerce environment. Additionally this individual will oversee development of supporting tools that satisfy requirements of multiple organizations. This person provides leadership in designing the overall development process and methodologies used by E-Commerce and production teams. This position is also responsible for managing and delivering major Engineering/Integration project initiatives by providing leadership in developing the team agenda, structure, roles and performance metrics. This person should be expert on Internet tools and technologies and be adept at software engineering processes. Provides training and guidance to technical personnel and coordinates with other organizations to define requirements for future technologies. Performs basic managerial functions such as scheduling, resource allocation, and cost and time analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide training, guidance and mentoring to technical personnel on web technologies
Interface with different product owners and teams to define requirements, schedules, resource allocations, and budget for technology development
Develops, leads and implements proposals and projects to improve team performance through process improvements, team development and organization
Research third-party technologies for application to internal requirements
Interface with external vendors to coordinate integration of technologies
Design, develop, document web software components
Professional development
Provide maintenance support and assist with updates to existing systems
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree in engineering or management discipline or equivalent experience; Computer Science degree is preferred
8 + years of experience managing a production E-Commerce installation
Strong ability to provide technical leadership, guidance, and project management to other engineers and technical personnel
Ability to coordinate with other organizations for requirements gathering and technology and development process evangelism purposes
Basic managerial abilities such as scheduling, resource allocation, and time and cost estimation
High level of expertise on state-of-the-art Internet technologies and Internet development technologies
Ability to recommend how to best leverage third-party technology platforms as well as an ability to define system level design concepts and work with engineers to maintain design integrity of the application
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
Standard software engineering principles and methods
Working knowledge of business and system analysis
Expertise in server-side web application development languages such as Java, JSP, EJB, Servlets, SQL
Expertise with OWASP, PCI Level 1 auditing and planning, SOA and SaaS models as they pertain to E-Commerce
Expert knowledge of the web HTTP/HTTPS and SSL protocols and standards
Expertise with operating and developing for EclipseNet or other E-Commerce systems is a must
Working knowledge of server technologies such as WinNT, IIS, SQL Server, UNIX, Oracle, and Netscape Enterprise Server
Extensive experience in developing and optimizing scalable, high performance Internet applications
Self starter with high level of initiative
