Manager, Fleet Operations

About the Job


General Purpose:


 


Under the direction of the Director of Automotive Services this position is responsible for the overall operations of the Fleet department.  Responsible for promoting and supporting a safe and ethical work environment.


 


 


 


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Manages Fleet Operations to ensure timely response and service quality levels that exceed members’ expectations. This includes proper scheduling, staffing and efficient operating of Fleet operations.

  2. Manages all expenses associated with Fleet.

  3. Ensures policies, procedures, and other corporate operating standards are followed. Counsels and handles situation appropriately when driver is in violation of policies.

  4. Conducts on-going performance appraisals. Coaches and develops employees when employee is not meeting performance standards.


  5. Responsible for the overall maintenance of vehicles assuring they are mechanically sound and visually esthetic. Makes recommendations for the purchase, repair and set-up of vehicles.

  6. In conjunction with the Battery Service Supervisor, manages Battery Service program for Fleet Operations. This includes ensuring proper payment and accounting procedures are followed.

  7. Works with management to ensure all accidents and injuries with Fleet personnel are viewed and discussed. As part of this comes up with solutions to any preventable situations.

  8. Receives and resolves member complaints associated with Fleet operations.

 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


 


BS/BA degree preferred and 5+ years of experience in management and/or automotive services/customer service management. Must be up-to-date on current customer service trends and labor laws. Prior personnel management, planning, and negotiation skills preferred. Requires the ability to analyze and manage financial and statistical information. Technical skills as it relates to the Automobile will be helpful in succeeding in position. ASE certifications in A6 and A8 preferred.


 


Supervision


 


Supervisory personnel reporting to this position. Approximately 35+ people reporting into this position.


 


 


Physical Demands


This position requires considerable physical activity, including but not limited to, lifting, bending stooping, climbing and pushing and/or pulling a variety of objects.  The employee will frequently need to lift objects often up to 40 pounds in weight, or at times up to 100 pounds in weight.  This job will require hearing, vision, smell and touch.
