Manager, Indirect Sourcing & Procurement


Position Summary:
Manage all aspects of Indirect Sourcing and Procurement to include the following spend categories: Supplies and Services, MRO Spend, and Capital Equipment and Construction. Leads a team of sourcing and purchasing professionals to work collaboratively with internal user departments to facilitate, optimize, and execute the purchase of these spend categories within the organization. Works closely with colleagues from Finance, Engineering, and other User Departments to ensure that Corporate guidelines are adhered to and business objectives are met. This position will interface across the BI network to optimize performance across the entire BI organization.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the tactical execution of purchasing activities to meet routine business needs.

  • Prepare and execute bid packages for internal customers

  • Ensure we stay within budgeted cost parameters for capital expenditures.

  • Ensure capital/construction timelines are met.   

  • Identify and implement system solutions and best practices that optimizes Indirect Sourcing and Procurement work practices. 

  • Develop and implement a training program for improved adherence to and usage of the site-wide electronic requisitioning process.

  • Negotiates, reviews, and executes the implementation of contractual arrangements per company policy and business objectives.

  • Oversees the supplier performance management program for indirect spend

  • Standing member of BVL Capital Investment Committee

  • Analyze indirect material spend to properly categorize spend segments and identify project opportunities to optimize savings performance for the Site.

 
 
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree required, preferably in Engineering, and/or other related Life Sciences field. 

  • Minimum of 5+ years of MRO/Capital Procurement Leadership experience is required,  preferably within the pharmaceutical industry and/or a similar highly regulated work environment, with 5-10 years experience working in the areas of MRO/Capital Procurement in the capacity of an individual contributor prior to that.

  • Working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices and FDA Regulatory Systems and Compliance is preferred.

  • Power/expert user of the following Microsoft Office software applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Access, and Outlook 

  • Minimum of 5 years experience leading cross-functional Project Teams to effectively implement MRO/Capital cost savings projects within a complex manufacturing environment is required.

  • Project Management certification is preferred.

  • Proven track record of meeting cost savings targets through leading supplier contract negotiations, and through implementation of purchasing and sourcing best practices across the internal organization is required.

  • Experience with developing and managing departmental expense budgets is required.

  • Accredited certification by a licensed purchasing/supply chain professional association (CPM Certification or equivalent) is preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Formal training in Lean Manufacturing and Value Stream Mapping tools and techniques is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience managing MRO/Capital material spend categories and developing MRO/Capital sourcing strategies, with a proven history of implementing sourcing projects that have a long term impact on local, regional, and/or global spend performance for the Company.
