DESCRIPTION:

 

 The purpose of the QA Manager is to develop and maintain a system to assure that all services provided by the organization meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.  This position reports directly to the Schneider Logistics T & D General Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

1.    Develop and implement quality standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.

2.    Devise sampling procedures for warehouse processes and procedures.

3.    Conduct established quality checks of the warehouse processes.

4.    Develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality data.

5.    Establish program to evaluate analytical, precision measurements, accuracy measurements, and performance testing.

6.    Develop and implement methods and procedures for the disposition of non-complying material.

7.    Identify cost and responsibility for non-complying material.

8.    Develop and maintain training material and conduct training on quality control activities.

9.    Analyze problems related to delays, poor quality rejects and inadequate control and make suggestions to prevent future errors.

10. Determine the cause of the process failure.

11. Establish feedback mechanisms to communicate process failures to appropriate management within the company.

12. Follow up with senior management to ensure corrective measures are taken.

13. Initiate vendor charge backs with Purchasing.

14. Work with cross functional teams to ensure product quality from beginning to end.

15. Process management to include, Shipping, Receiving, OS&D, Yard management as well as office functions.

16.  Mentor new colleagues in areas of expertise.

17. Strive for excellence through continuous quality improvement programs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 

  • Ability to manage, plan, coordinate, and direct quality control program designed to ensure continuous process/service consistent with established standards.
  • Ability to manage the development and analysis of statistical data and specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy.
  • Formulate and maintain quality control objectives.
  • Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize quality, reliability, and minimize costs.
  • Manage, through intermediate personnel, workers engaged in activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, services, and products.
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring work activities, such as preparation of records of expenditures, progress reports, etc., in order to inform management of current status or work activities.
  • Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to quality and reliability.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist employees in solving work problems.
  • Ability to recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
  • Interpret company policy to employees and enforce company policy and practices.
  • Ability to investigate customer complaints regarding quality and make appropriate adjustments.

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

A Bachelors Degree in Business, Marketing or related field.   3 - 5 years experience in Quality Control Management.   Strong MS Office abilities, expert Excel abilities.  Excellent communication skills.  Strong analytical skills.  An M.S. in one of these areas is preferred.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

 

•Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

•No or very limited physical effort required and limited exposure to physical risk.
