GENERAL SUMMARY
The Manager, Marketing Communications will be responsible for proactively directing media initiatives and marketing communications related to Preferred Hotel Group. Member relations, communications, and retention are key elements of the position.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Under the close supervision of the Director, Global Public Relations the Manager, Marketing Communications will work closely with North American Area Managing Directors/Regional Directors.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Member Relations
1. Brand Ambassador
An essential component of the Manager, Marketing Communications is member knowledge and interaction. The Manager will need to immerse themselves in the brand, and truly understand the unique attributes of each property, their regions and be able to decipher what important stories can be told collectively. This position is the voice of the brand and story teller for the hotels to the media. Additionally, to incite program participation through education and interaction with the hotels.
2. Hotel Liaison
The Manager, Marketing Communications an active member of member relations & retention team to ensure that hotel partners understand and engage the brands services and programs. The Manager should be the hotel’s marketing liaison for all branding queries, including but not limited to member web site updates, logos, news and property updates. This position also oversees coordination and completion of new member orientations (hotels and/or management) in coordination with peers in the development & retention team. The Manager should be familiar with the members contacts; be available to respond to queries and provide direction for members on where they can find the answers regarding membership questions.
Public Relations
3. PR Strategy Plan and Execution
The Manager, Marketing Communications will work closely with the Global PR Director to develop a comprehensive Annual Public Relations plan for which they are then responsible for executing.
4. Media Relations
The Manager is the primary media contact for the brand, responsible for responding to all media queries, maintaining regular contacts with the existing media database, growing the media database, pitching story angles, and securing regular media coverage for the brand and its members.
5. Events and Meetings
Manager, Marketing Communications will actively participate in the planning and execution of regional and annual media events including creation of communications, materials media invites/preparation and on-site management/facilitation. The Manager will also work to facilitate any media/PR related components for the Annual Conference and Committee meetings.
6. Packages, Promotions, etc
Annual promotions, creative packages and researching potential new partnerships would be a responsibility of the Manger, Marketing Communications. They would also be responsible for the planning and execution of said activities. Consistency of brand message and brand value to be maintained across the brand web site, collateral, directories and electronic messaging.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working environment is located in a highly maintained and well appointed office building convenient to commuter lines. Office space is beautifully as well as functionally decorated including all required technology tools. Incumbent is seated most of the time. Travel estimated at 30% of the time.
