Position Summary
The Manager of Medical Records is responsible for planning and directing all aspects of the Health Information Management Department. The employee in this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating Information Management policies and procedures, which are to be in compliance with Joint Commission, Federal and state Regulations. This employee must establish and maintain a productive, professional relationship with the medical staff, management team and all other departments. Responsibilities include facilitating the ongoing record review process, the Performance Improvement activities of the department, assuring compliance with medical record delinquencies and assuring the safekeeping and confidentiality of all medical records information. Daily activities include coding and abstracting all discharges, providing statistical information and supervising the activities of the contracted transcription service. Will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Education: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Associates Degree with designation as Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
Experience: One (1) year experience in Health Information Management, preferably in mental/behavioral health. One (1) year supervisory experience. Must possess excellent organizational and motivational skills. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
