Global Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing Development has the following charter:

To supply the quick turn capabilities needed for prototypes and customer samples. To build tooling for verification of products and processes. To arrive at cost effective solutions by supporting Lean Design for Six Sigma process through simultaneous engineering teams. In summary, to work closely with development engineering and operations on the release and sourcing of cost effective and reliable new products.

The Project Manger is the leader of simultaneous engineering teams and is responsible for all aspects of the development phase through to the transfer phase. The Project Manger is responsible to ensure all Key Metrics are measured and met. Including Product and Process verification and qualification, Time to Market, Quality, and all Financial Metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead Simultaneous Engineering teams comprised of Development Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers and Business representatives
  2. Potentially work with Product Development Engineers in England, France and US
  3. Create manufacturing plans for new product designs
  4. Direct and personally review the financial analysis of new business opportunities
  5. Obtain capital expenditure approvals
  6. Oversee the development of quality control plans
  7. Track project expenses
  8. Arrange for production of prototype samples
  9. Oversee the preparations for production materials
  10. Manage the initial production arrangements for new products
  11. Arrive at cost effective solutions by supporting Lean Design for Six Sigma
  12. Manage the transfer of the production process to the long term manufacturing site (US, Mexico and India)
  13. Track project performance metrics such as actual manufacturing costs, tooling efficiencies and quality measures
  14. Create and maintain project documentation including timelines, action item listings and status reports
  15. Resolve problems as needed to address customer needs
  16. Assist with the supervision of staff engineers
  17. Lead manufacturing process improvements and innovations using new technologies


Qualifications:
  1. BS degree in Engineering preferred
  2. GB or BB in Six Sigma process preferred
  3. Minimum of 10 years experience in a Manufacturing Engineering field, in addition to development engineering experience
  4. Good working knowledge and experience with connector manufacturing processes (stamping, molding, die cast, screw machining, plating and assembly)
  5. Demonstrated ability to provide effective project leadership within a cross-functional team
  6. Demonstrate ability to organize and prioritize
  7. Strong interpersonal & negotiating skills
  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate across all levels within and outside of the organization including customers
  9. Strong analytical skills and attention to details
  10. PC proficient, including Excel, Word, MS Project, Power Point, and MRP systems
