Manager, Real Estate & Construction

We are currently seeking a Forensic (Real Estate and Construction) Manager to join us in out Chicago office. KPMG ForensicSM uses computer forensic and data analysis techniques to help our clients detect fraudulent activity and other forms of misconduct. KPMG LLP operates the Cypress Technology Center, which offers sophisticated technology tools and skilled professionals to help clients reduce litigation costs and risks in the areas of evidence and discovery management and the acquisition, management, and analysis of large data sets. Responsibilities: • Conduct project reviews to evaluate percentage of completion, probability of recovery for change orders and claims, and reasonableness of the estimate to complete • Analyze construction schedule delays, defective specifications, and loss of productivity • Review, analyze, and prepare construction cost summaries and schedules • Prepare, edit, and proofread narrative reports and presentations of observations and recommendations • Perform construction contract audits and compliance reviews • Manage the engagement process from start to finish • Manage client relationships and communicate with the client • Manage field work including data collection, analysis, and work paper documentation • Supervise engagement staff and interns • Prepare client proposals and lead business development activities • Work independently under the guidance of Directors and Partners Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building Science, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited college/university • Knowledge of contract administration, scheduling, estimating, and construction cost reporting • Five years of experience in design, construction management, and/or construction advisory services • Field construction experience on a variety of different project types and clients (public and/or private) • Experience in effectively managing staff and delegating work • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access • Strong documentation, records retention and work paper organizational skills • Willing and able to travel KPMG offers and supports flexible work arrangements as well as part-time schedules.
