Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers seeks a dynamic leader as our Manager, Regional Operations (MRO) in Chicago, Illinois. Reporting to the Regional Manager, the MRO will play an integral role in the continuing success of the Chicago operation.
Our Chicago sale site generates revenues in excess of $100 million per year generated through 5 on-site and 3 off-site sales. The sales are supported by a core operations staff of 12 dedicated full-time employees and many part-time and sale day staff. The Chicago facility is located on a total of 100 acres of which 60 acres are set aside for future expansion.
In this role you will take responsibility for the management of the auction yard, customer service and administrative side of the business. The MRO will provide leadership in the areas of operational performance, customer relations, continuous process improvement and employee development.

The Key Responsibilities
· Build, manage and motivate a strong, competent team by developing employees to their full potential and by creating a culture of achievement.
· Develop or assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the fiscally responsible, efficient and safe operation of the sale site.
· Maintain an environment of continuous improvement.
· Prepare and monitor operational action plans and operating budgets.
· Oversee all financial activities of the region.
· Develop and implement projects and programs to assist in accomplishing established goals.
· Evaluate and/or negotiate contracts for the purchase of services in coordination with the purchasing department.
· Oversee contract management including appraisal processing, contract preparation and processing, lien/encumbrance searches and post-sale file archiving.
· Coordinate and implement internal financial reporting systems, financial controls, and management information systems.
· Oversee and be involved in maintaining customer service levels.
The Requirements
· University degree in the field of Business Management or Commerce and/ or 5 years related work experience.
· Five years experience managing and/or directing operations in a medium or large business or business division.
· Proven experience in operations planning and policy development.
· Knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations.
· Demonstrated ability to manage operations to support evolving business goals.
· Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
· Strong leadership and coaching skills.
· Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills in English. Fluency in Spanish or another language is preferred but not required.
· Highly self-motivated and self-directed.
· Keen attention to detail.
· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
· Experience working effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
· A high degree of personal integrity.
· A strong work ethic without sacrificing your sense of humor or your ability to have fun on the job!
