Manager / Senior Manager, Real Estate Fed Tax

We are currently seeking a Tax Manager/Senior Manager to join us in our NYC office to focus on Real Estate clients. KPMG's Federal Tax Services Practice is a resource for clients that need help complying with the latest IRS rules and regulations. Our tax professionals who handle federal tax issues bring the experience and commitment necessary to deliver tax compliance and advisory services to help meet our clients' specific needs. Responsibilities for both positions: • Manage a portfolio of clients of varying size and scope and act as the first point of contact for internal and external clients • Build and manage client relationships • Manage teams of tax professionals/assistants working on client projects • Help manage risk and financial performance of engagements including billing, collections, and the budget for projects • Advise clients and be responsible for delivering high quality tax service and advice • Help assess tax impact on clients, develop tax arguments to support conclusions, and suggest plans to clients • Participate in and contribute to market and business activities external to the firm, presenting a positive image of self and KPMG Additional Responsibilities of Senior Manager: • Perform FAS 109 accounting for the income tax of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and non-SEC clients • Understand and analyze the U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) rules affecting the taxpayer Qualifications for both positions: • Previous experience as a Tax Manager with a public accounting firm • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university • Licensed CPA or JD from an accredited college/university • Proficiency in the taxation of corporations, consolidated entities, partnerships, and other flow-through entities • Exceptional skills in reviewing 1120, 1120S, and 1065 tax returns • Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting procedures, C-Corp tax regulations and FAS-109 • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex financial information • Experience managing multiple client engagements and client service teams Additional Qualification for Senior Manager: • Eight years of corporate tax experience with a well regarded accounting and/or law firm • Excellent research and writing skills KPMG offers and supports flexible work arrangements as well as part-time schedules.
