Job Summary:


The SW Engineering Manager will be responsible for building and leading a best-in-class Software Engineering team, focused on technological and execution excellence in alignment with customer needs and expectations.  This position is responsible for leading a functional group of engineers and provides leadership, management, and career development for personnel within the group.  The SW Engineering manager will be part of the Product Development management team and as part of this team will share responsibility for the business performance; meeting financial objectives and ensuring customer and employee satisfaction. 


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


1.    Manage R&D engineers who work on cross functional teams to design, develop and support embedded systems-based medical devices


2.    Collaborate with product development managers to effectively staff new product development teams, and to create performance based goals and manage R&D engineers to achieve and exceed them


3.    Implement and execute performance reviews and career development plans, focusing on top talent development.  Continually assess group needs and expectations, in light of being a best-in-class organization, against group resources and capabilities.


4.    Evaluate ongoing customer needs and expectations along with technology advancements, and ensure that the SW group is structured, resourced, trained and equipped to exceed these needs and expectations.


5.    Assume responsibility for the effective utilization of SW group resources.


6.    Maintain and ensure compliance with Design Controls and Quality procedures.


7.    Assist Business Development by meeting with potential new customers and providing input and support on proposals as requested.


8.    Develop workforce & resource assessments for annual operating plan and forward looking strategic plans.


 


Qualifications:


1.    BS/MS in Software, Electrical or Computer engineering  


2.    Minimum five years engineering experience


3.    Minimum 3 years engineering management experience


4.    Medical device development experience required.


5.    Experience with all phases of new product development, from concept through commercialization preferred but not required. 


6.    Demonstrated leadership behaviors including effective communication, critical thinking and decision making, coaching and mentoring, and promoting a strong sense of urgency for reaching goals required.
