Manager - State and Local Tax

We are currently seeking a Tax Manager to join us in our Anchorage office.
KPMG’s State and Local Tax (SALT) practice needs more members for their Income Franchise team. KPMG's SALT practice assists clients as they work to reduce their tax liabilities and enhance the bottom line. As a national practice, SALT is committed to bringing some of the best professionals to each engagement and providing dynamic tax services to clients.
Responsibilities: * Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies which includes preparing clients for discussions with auditors, representing the client at hearings and appeal meetings, and preparing protests * Perform tax planning services * Research and draft technical memoranda regarding income and franchise tax questions * Possess technical proficiency in SALT income/franchise taxation * Supervise, mentor and develop staff level team members * Assist with targeted business development and the management and delivery of SALT services * Oversee and deliver large client project engagements
Qualifications: * Five years of experience performing tax research and providing technical advice on multi-state tax issues * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Business, Accounting or a related course of study * Strong written and verbal communication and tax research skills * Demonstrated ability and desire to perform in a team environment
