Job Description: 

 

This position is responsible for leading and/or supporting projects across the Guitar Center’s businesses (e.g., Guitar Center, Musician’s Friend, Music & Arts) and channels of commerce businesses (Retail stores, online, catalog, call centers).  The individual must be a strategic thinker who can recognize opportunities in both retail and online markets and leverage those opportunities to increase enterprise profits.  S/he is accountable for designing the analytical framework to test working hypothesis and insights, developing data models, performing statistical analysis, making recommendations and presenting findings.  This position requires leadership skills, strategic thinking and strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

 

This person plays multiple roles.  S/he is the Account Executive to multiple business units and must understand the specific business unit needs and translate into meaningful analysis and actionable recommendations.  As the Subject Matter Expert on strategy and business analytics, s/he makes strategic and tactical recommendations to all levels of management including senior executives.  The data analysis, project leadership, and recommendations of this position are critical to strategic decision making and growth of the Guitar Center businesses.

Manager Responsibilities:

·         Collaborate with business units and Information Systems to gather and analyze data

o   Access data warehouse systems to obtain data for analysis

o   Evaluate results using multi-variable statistical analysis

·         Develop reports to help business unit leaders manage and optimize their businesses

·         Work cross-functionally to identify and implement growth and profit enhancing strategies

o   Design and implement pilot tests to evaluate recommendations

o   Build financial models to design multi-variable marketing programs

·         Develop and present powerpoint presentations to business units and senior management and drive to align and implement profit growth enhancing strategies

Manager Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred) with focused training in finance and statistics

·         Minimum of 5-8 years experience in strategy, financial and statistical analysis

·         Preference for experience at strategy consulting firm or corporate strategy group

·         Expertise in developing Powerpoint story-lined presentations, excel spreadsheets and database analysis (Essbase, SQL and MS Access preferred)

·         Strong interpersonal skills and well-developed written, verbal, and presentation skills

·         Must have excellent analytical (critical thinking) and organizational skills and demonstrate a great attention to detail
