Manager, Vendor Negotiations
Responsible for the coordination of pricing, promotion and assortment data to link marketing plans and purchasing/sales execution for top tiered vendors; consult with Chief Merchandising Officer and Purchasing GMMs on vendor negotiation strategies; collaborate with Space Managers to provide recommendations for strategic vendor negotiations to Director of Finance, Retail Operations.
1. Monitors sales, inventory and marketing data at the category and item level for top tiered vendors. 2. Provides recommendations of vendor negotiation data points to Purchasing GMMs, Director of Finance, and Retail Operations. 3. Provides input and guidance to Walgreen Leadership for top to top negotiation. 4. Serves as point of contact for top tiered vendors. 5. Engages and develops analysts with market, competitive, and category promo and price trends. 6. Ensures focus on and/or attainment of performance metrics including comparisons with plan of (Sub) category same store sales, same store share, net margin, days of Supply; increase/decrease in value per transaction, basic assortment efficiency, promotional effectiveness, impact of price zone adjustments; traffic increase, 360 degree feedback. 7. Coaches and manages leadership and advanced analytic skills. Develops and mentors staff, develops employees through orientation, training establishing objectives, communication policies, constructive discipline; builds employee morale, and motivation.
B.S./B.A in Marketing, Finance or similar field. 5-7 yrs in a senior analytical function and management experience, preferably in CPG or retail. Experience in retail data such as Nielsen, IRI; consumer packaged goods, trade marketing, trade funds management, project coordination data analysis, negotiation, P&L management; knowledge of leading analytical software, marketing, finance. People management skills, problem solving skills, conflict management with an ability to drive resolution, communications skills, negotiation skills. Ability to use influence tactics and collaborate in a matrix environment, ability to identity and simplify key data points.
