Job Summary: Plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities throughout the entire product cycle. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance within established policies and objectives.
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:
· Leading and directing engineers individually or in teams.
· Oversee electronics production activities
· Manage product repair, calibration and testing activities
· Oversee Quality Control and Assurance
· Oversee Continuing Engineering Activities
· Actively involved in the research and development of new products
· Manage critical vendor relationships
· Direct testing and qualification of new product designs
· Support ongoing field service operations
· Work closely with the management and production team to define and develop the product strategy for Teledrift.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Manages engineers
· Coordinates outside consultants and contractors
· Manages the Supervisors of the Production, Test and Calibration groups.
Educational Qualifications:
· Masters Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) preferred
· MUST be knowledgeable in art of design and testing of Measurement While Drilling tools for the Downhole Oil and Gas Industry.
Experience Qualifications:
· Must have an extensive knowledge of the downhole MWD (Measurement While Drilling) industry.
· At least 5 years of experience designing MWD or LWD tools.
Skill Requirements:
· Must be able to design mechanical and electrical components pertaining to the downhole MWD tools.
· Must be knowledgeable in or capable of leading design teams involved in the following.
· Design for High Pressure, High Temperature and High Vibration environments
· Mud Pulse Telemetry including Pulser Design and Optimization
· Pulse Detection and Decoding Algorithms
· Analog, Mixed Signal and Digital circuit design and implementation.
· Application Development for the Windows Environment (C++, C#)
· Firmware development for embedded processors (x51 and x86 in Assembler and C)
· Mechanical Stress Analysis, FEA, CFD.
· Inertial Sensors including Accelerometers and Magnetometers,
· Must be able to read and interpret Mechanical and Electrical schematics, blueprints and 3d components.
· A working knowledge of Solidworks is preferred.
· Ability to communicate effectively using Email, Voice, Paper and Digital Documents.
