California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC) assists Southern California manufacturers to improve profits, stimulate growth, create and retain jobs and improve productivity.   CMTC’s rapidly growing Defense Services business unit serves both manufacturing clients and government customers developing solutions for difficult to obtain parts required for legacy defense systems and providing engineering support services.  This position leads business development within the Defense Services business unit.

Reports to:

Director – Defense Services 

Accountability:

Independently identify prospect targets and leads at government facilities

Build relationships and identify appropriate opportunities

Secure orders to meet revenue goals

Responsibility:

Coordinate closely with engineering personnel to accomplish goals

Develop detailed Milestone Actions Plans (MAPs) in support of sales goals and perform root cause analysis  

Develop comprehensive proposals for new business acquisition

Provide regular (weekly) reporting on progress and key issues

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business 

20+ years experience in U.S. aerospace and government defense industry with technical background in mechanical or aeronautical engineering preferred

10+ years experience in technical sales, marketing, business development, or application engineering within the military / government aerospace market

Analytical skills and disciplines in support of business planning, strategy development / deployment, relationship management and conflict resolution

A proven track record of closing deals in government aerospace – deal sizes in excess of $500K

Travel to 50% - Identifying customers, building relationships, and closing business

Entrepreneurial orientation

Ability to work independently and remotely

Excellent communications and presentations skills

Located in Los Angeles or Orange County – U.S. citizenship required

Proficient in use of MS Office package and ability to use CRM and sales force automation systems
