Job Summary:
Responsible for all quality assurance functions in the 1st processing area and others, overseeing the HACCP Program and policies, communicating with USDA, Sales, Research and Development, Operations, working with USDA to resolve HACCP and other Food Safety related issues, managing QA personnel reporting to this position, responsible for the budget assigned to this position, conducting audits and follow up on deficiencies, representing QA at meetings, Seminars outside the company, conducting food safety audits of suppliers.
Essential Functions:
• Manage day to day quality assurance functions for 1st processing and other areas. Manage the personnel reporting to this position. (Staffing, overtime, and other budget items)
• Program and process auditing.
• Required to spend a great deal of time mentoring, training, and coaching direct reports, indirect reports, and possibly Operations personnel as well.
• Requires a great deal of office time, time auditing the processing environment, the outside grounds, and the facility, including the roof. (time in front of a computer as well as physically auditing the process)
• Investigating product and process failures
• Must be flexible with schedule to accommodate staffing conflicts
• Data handling, analysis and reporting
Additional Responsibilities:
• Supplier audits
• Outside Warehouse Audits
• Handling customer requested 3rd party audit
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
• Must have good Managerial skills including mentoring abilities
• Must have good Communication skills to all levels (hourly through executive)
• Must have a proactive approach to program, process, and policies design, implementation and improvement.
• Must be a critical thinker and have well developed problem solving skills.
• Must be tenacious and a self starter.
• Must have a working knowledge of USDA regulations and directives.
• Must have excellent knowledge of computer use.
• Needs to work with little or no supervision.
• Needs to develop team work within both the Quality Assurance Department and Operations
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and sanitation process
• Knowledge of Pest control
