Managing Executive Director of Marketing and Sales

SUMMARY: This is a newly created position, designed to lead the company to a new level of maturity in marketing and business development. The Managing Executive Director of Marketing & Sales will lead and manage all marketing and sales activity within the company, ensuring appropriate integration and effective promotion of the company’s brand in the marketplace. This person will be a highly motivated professional responsible for developing business and relationships to meet or exceed sales revenue goals; defining the company’s overall strategies and tactics for new markets and growth opportunities; building systems that allow for fact and information based decisions; and building the Marketing and Sales infrastructure. The Managing Executive Director of Marketing & Sales will be a member of the Executive Leadership Team that develops and executes corporate strategy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Develop and execute the marketing and sales strategies and tactics necessary to achieve the company’s revenue and margin objectives.
2. Actively lead efforts to identify product/solution offerings in response to market need. Conduct and analyze market research to determine risk and marketability of potential offerings. Oversee planning and execution of new product launches and similar campaigns, in collaboration with business unit leadership.
3. Execute a brand strategy that builds the company’s reputation in the marketplace. Ensure the proper amount and type of coverage necessary to raise awareness, build enterprise value, and ensure consistent corporate and product branding and image.
4. Ensure that marketing strategy, tactics and programs are clearly designed, communicated and operate effectively. Ensure they create interest, demand and recognition for Management Concepts and its offerings through the use of applicable and cost effective marketing. Ensure appropriate use of corporate systems for managing and monitoring marketing activities.
5. Ensure that sales and sales management processes are clearly designed, communicated, and operate effectively. Ensure appropriate use of corporate systems for managing and monitoring sales activities.
6. Allocate and prioritize the use of resources to the company’s optimal benefit and to meet budget expectations.
7. Nurture a dynamic network of resources (for partnership, contracting, etc.). Participate in creating strategic partnerships, alliances and bundles that ensures Management Concepts is highly visible and properly positioned and referenced.
8. Oversee the management and operations of the company’s marketing, sales, and proposal departments. Lead those departments in incorporating best industry practices to achieve greater maturity. Measure department effectiveness and implement improvements.
9. Integrate and coordinate the actions of the marketing, sales, and proposal functions.
10. Mentor direct reports and oversee their career and professional development. Ensure a consistent, fair and situational management style exists throughout the department.
11. Advise company executives on best practices in marketing and sales and how they can or should be translated to our specific environment.
12. Other duties and assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
• Well rounded in all aspects of marketing and sales of B-B service based offerings.
• Demonstrated knowledge of government marketing issues as they apply to: P&L and budget development, pricing models, proposal preparation, customer buying patterns, competitive strategies, advertising, marketing channels, technology trends, statistics and analysis, direct marketing, telemarketing, database marketing, event marketing, channel marketing, product marketing, product management, team management, presentation, and strong sales management skills.
• Organized and analytical.
• Must exhibit excellent leadership and communication skills and work well within a multidisciplinary team environment. Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills required.
• Must be an energetic executive with excellent sales leadership skills, a team builder, results driven, multi-tasker, able to function in a dynamic environment.
• Systems thinker; appreciates the importance of organization and process.
• Good negotiation skills and an excellent understanding of managing alliances/partnerships essential.
• Demonstrate executive level leadership and commitment to the company’s core values.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in business administration and/or marketing preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience successfully managing the marketing/sales function for mid-sized or larger company
• Proven successful track record in marketing to the federal government
• Proven experience collaborating with range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve corporate goals
