Position Description Managing Supervisor or Vice President, Sports Business

We have an immediate opening at our global headquarters in St. Louis for a seasoned and motivated sports marketing and communications professional to play a key role on high-profile, national sports business accounts and to further develop the agency’s growing specialty in communications aligned with sports.
FH Sports Business wins by combining distinctive expertise in sports business and management with an unrivaled depth of communications and management services and global network. Our clients include AT&T, Papa John’s, Gatorade, Buffalo Wild Wings, the USA Bid Committee for FIFA World Cup, Rawlings, EA Sports, Visa, Women’s Professional Tennis Association, Crocs, the United States Golf Association, Western Golf Association, Boy Scouts of America, SCP Worldwide and teams from MLB, NHL and the NFL, among others. | Responsibilities: | • Maximize existing and new relationships with topline sports-sponsoring clients and influential partners, news media and third parties • Develop communications campaigns on behalf of major local and national sports accounts • Create and lead development of new business presentations and proposal responses • Implement media relations campaigns, including developing and pitching stories to national and local media • Implement online and social media communications strategies to support client’s needs • Organize and stage regional and national events • Develop solid relationships with clients and influential partners and third parties | Qualifications: | • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related area • Minimum seven years of experience working in a sports agency, public relations agency, business firm, or sports league/franchise • Strong ability to interface directly with clients and senior executives • A proven track record of successfully building business • Experience in the dynamics of sports sponsorships, with experience in major sports-related brands and beer or spirits sponsorships, is a plus • Understanding the sports business industry with relationships at the executive and senior communications levels • Creative, energetic team player who is results-focused and willing to go the extra mile for clients • Strong writing skills across a variety of applications, including video, online, news materials, promotional materials, and speeches • Excellent presentation and verbal skills is a must, with previous experience offering public relations counseling to senior executives • Experience in organizing and staging events (i.e., news conferences and promotional events) • Experience in managing communications issues • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects and clients • Ability to establish budgets and manage programs to budget • Ability to form and lead cross-disciplinary teams
