Position Description

 

Design and implement efficient and reliable manufacturing processes for new products and changes to existing products.  Develop processes to add capabilities, improve efficiency, and reduce quality defects.  Facilitate the transition of new products from the proto-type level into high rate manufacturing.  Focus on Continuous Improvement of manufacturing and associated administrative processes.

 

Coordinate new product launch activities through the design and development of tools, fixtures, gages and detailed work instruction including the development of production lines and manufacturing cells.

 

 

Essential Functions

  • Attend Design Reviews and influence Design for Manufacturability in new products
  • Develop work instruction to support production operations
  • Design and develop production tooling, fixtures and gages
  • Identify and recommend process improvements for efficiency and quality
  • Perform time/motion studies and line balance activities
  • Evaluate and implement changes to reduce product material or manufacturing labor costs
  • Train and mentor staff on the fundamentals of lean manufacturing techniques
  • Implement continuous flow and pull system concepts
  • Develop, deploy and maintain production lines and manufacturing cells.
  • Conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
  • Provide daily production support to set up, trouble shoot, repair, and improve manufacturing processes and equipment

 

Education and Work Experience

 

  • BSME/BSIE
  • 5 years in a high volume electro/mechanical manufacturing environment
  • Detailed knowledge of metal conversion operations
  • Knowledge of electronic and soldering process preferred
