A business unit of PerkinElmer Illumination, Opto Technology develops, manufactures, and markets precision LED illumination systems for a wide range of OEM customers. We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who will perform specific duties that will ensure a smooth-operating, high-flow manufacturing environment. The Manufacturing Engineer will perform a wide variety of tasks, relying on experience and good judgment to accomplish all manufacturing goals. The candidate is expected to use a wide degree of creativity and advanced problem solving skills to make continuous improvements.
The following are the essential functions of the position:
1. Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods
2. Understand all processes in manufacturing and maximize efficiencies
3. Confer with design staff to ensure new products fit current manufacturing processes
4. Design tooling and fixturing to support new products
5. Interface with vendors to order parts, equipment, and machinery
6. Interact with other production personnel to ensure consistent product flow
7. Recommend quality improvements to current processes
8. Perform time studies and load standard rates into ERP system
9. Write and revise standard operating procedures
10. Generate ECOs for revision control of product specific documents
Minimum Requirements: Opto may waive any of the following where it deems there is a job-related equivalency for such minimum requirements.
1. Bachelor’s Degree (BSME, BSEE) required; Master’s Degree preferred.
2. Knowledge of current industry manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures.
3. Ability to apply various problem-solving techniques to achieve positive results.
4. Strong PC skills, as well as appropriate oral and written communication skills.
5. Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment strongly preferred
6. Experience working in an ISO 9001 or equivalent environment strongly preferred
