Manufacturing Engineering Manager

SUMMARY

Leadership responsibility for Manufacturing Engineering team that develops and implements optimal, cost-effective techniques, methods and procedures to enhance manufacturing processes to reduce costs, improve efficiencies and improve quality of products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Performs to individual KPI’s/goals established during performance reviews and/or goal setting meetings.
  • Manages team’s research, designs, developments and analysis of manufacturing processes using lean manufacturing concepts related to production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
  • Responsible for reviews and analyses of technical requirements from product design outputs and specifications.
  • Manages process development activities related to the launch of new and/or revised products, such as:
  • Developing process mapping
  • Performing risk assessments (PFMEA)
  • Performing process validation studies
  • Performing time studies and analysis to balance assembly lines
  • Developing control plans
  • Stays abreast of state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and directs the analysis of technology trends as relates to company.
  • Evaluates technical progress and projects to ensure sound application of scientific and engineering principles and adequate research to support the highest possible performance of the end products
  • Prepares periodic reports and makes presentations to staff and customers.
  • Ensures that products and processes comply with regulatory standards and requirements; includes the development and validation of said products and processes.
  • Acts as liaison between the Engineering and Manufacturing departments.
  • Develops procedures to support Quality Management systems
  • Reads, understands and adheres to appropriate company and department policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance, safe and productive workplace and quality products and customer service.
  • Must immediately report any and all unsafe conditions and/or work related injuries/illnesses to supervisor.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned, to maintain efficiency throughout the company.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or related field and a minimum of ten years related experience and/or training; or as deemed appropriate by the Senior Management of ResMed Motor Technologies.

 

PREREQUISITES:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of motor and/or rotary components
  • Familiar with statistical analytical methods
  • Familiar with plastic component process development
  • Detail oriented with good organization skills; ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to use MS Office software, Minitab, and ERP or MRP systems.
  • Ability to use CAD software
  • Ability to work with a team and interface with other departments
  • Ability to motivate and collaborate.
  • Experience having managed minimum of 4 engineering staff

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
