Location for this position is Geneva, NY.
The Manufacturing Operation Manager - Blow Molding & Silk Screening is responsible for the operational performance, quality and safety of the extrusion and injection blow molding processes and reports to the Director of Operations. The extrusion and injection blow molding processes operates 24/7 and the silk screening operation runs 24/5, manufacturing wide range of bottle types at minimal cost, specified quality, and in accordance to production planning demands.This is potentially a succession role to the Director of Operations depending on performance and successes.


 


This dynamic results oriented leader is responsible for efficient and economical utilization of labor, materials and assets, while employing process improvement techniques to improve overall quality and efficiency in the Blow Molding and Silk Screening process areas. Ensure overall equipment effectiveness of the machinery through effective use of process control techniques and adherence to standard operating procedures, while overseeing daily activities of direct supervisors and indirect staff for all shifts related to extrusion and injection blow molding processes.

 



What we offer



The Manager, Blow Molding & Silk Screening is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the 15 discrete asset cost centers between the two vertically integrated departments.   The role has a total span of control of four supervisors and 150 employees and a $2MM total cost budget.  The role has overall responsibility for 35 million decorated bottles per annum and growing.





  • Drive safety and quality culture through improvement initiatives, training, accountability and 5S activities.




  • Build a succession plan with the hiring of great talent in the Supervisor ranks and mentor them to be the next generation of senior leaders in the factory.




  • Maintains accurate inventory management activities to ensure schedule and inventory levels are kept to target.



  • Effectively manages resources of materials and labor, to continually exceed OEE targets in our cultural revolution to a high performance world class operation.


  • Manages all expense spending including equipment repairs, molds, tools & supplies.


  • Contributes to the annual capital plan with technical input, direction and justification as required.


  • Develops an execution culture and meets commitments – lead by example.


  • Integrate the department strategic direction with the Plant Management Team.


  • Establish and manage all department resources to meet supply chain partner requirements of on time delivery to factory peers.


  • Develop and implement the department charter for safety, quality, cost, schedule and environment.


  • Leads employee outputs, provides status and feedback reporting of performance metrics.


  • Responsible for direct labor planning and production plan execution to achieve maximum efficiency while producing quality products resulting in no rejects or rework. (Right the first time)


  • Develops, maintains and distributes reports for processing control activities. Ex, efficiency, inventory accuracy, schedule attainment, scrap, rejects, etc.


  • Drives efficiency and yield improvements


Qualification:

Who we are looking for  


 
Bachelor's Degree (mechanical, plastics engineering or related technical field) highly preferred
5+ years proven management experience within manufacturing environment, particularly supervisory level direct reports
Proven experience in improving total safety and quality rates
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Experienced with or leading maintenance activities including troubleshooting controls and hydraulic systems
High mechanical aptitude, ability to read drawings and familiar with programmable logic controllers
Demonstrates initiative and motivation and excellent mathematical skills
Experienced with blow molding, silk screening and/or the bottle filling or decorating process
Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing is a plus
