About the Job


  • The people leader in manufacturing operations is responsible for management of a group whose primary focus is on the execution of manufacturing processes, technical assessment of processes including technology transfer, maintaining a culture of compliance, innovation, and continuous improvement within their assigned Asset Group.
  • The people leader will need to guide the people in their group with process and technical knowledge to lead troubleshooting activities, provide investigations support, analyze process data, and identify and implement process improvements and a culture of continuous improvement.


  • Oversight of a production group of 10-12 people (that includes technicians and on the floor engineer(s), ensuring compliance to regulations. Responsible for coaching/mentoring both technical and non-technical staff.
  • This person will have regular interactions with the Engineering, Quality, Technical Services, and Operational Management departments.
  • Guide the people in their group with process and technical knowledge to lead troubleshooting activities, provide investigations support, analyze process data, and identify and implement process improvements and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Knowledgeable in multiple operations processes including solution preparation, fermentation, and purification.  Knowledgeable/experienced with DMAIC processes, investigation processes, and automation.
  • Strong understanding of industry knowledge (GMP regulations applicable) and has strong understanding of business operations (Financial basics, and enterprise system use i.e. Payroll, Inventory Mgmt. systems, etc.).
  • Actively shares knowledge with others across assets through existing knowledge sharing processes/systems.
  • Identifies and makes improvements to existing work processes/products
  • Solves more complex problems within area of expertise or cross-functional teams outside immediate area of expertise
  • Decision making autonomy when minor impact outside of direct team.  Decision escalated when impact has significant impact on department.
  • Establishes tactical activities for OTE and/or professional staff to support day to day operational goals.
  • Supports developmental and training opportunities for direct reports.  Depth analysis on resource / skill  balance to drive/advocate for changes either within or between teams.
  • Responsible for coaching/mentoring both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills. 
  • Encourages the participation and perspectives of all team members.  Effectively listens to and explains difficult issues to reach shared understanding and building alignment.


  • BS in an Engineering discipline with 8+ years or MS in an engineering discipline with 6+ years in a  relevant experience
  • BS in an Science discipline with 10+ years or MS in an Science discipline with 8+ years in a  relevant experience


  • Additional requirements are at least five years in a cGMP environment with increasing responsibility.
  • 5 years of management experience


  • Able-bodied; must be able to climb flights of stairs, and be standing for ~1-2 hours at a time.


  • 2nd Shift Rotating position 2PM – 2AM
  • Occasional off-shift requirements
