Manufacturing Production Manager
Your Role
PRODUCTION MANAGER MECHANICAL and ELECTRICAL FABRICATION
Highly visible opportunity to join ATKs Wallops Island VA facility as a Production Manager in our specialized Mechanical and Electrical Fabrication shops.
Our ideal candidate will possess strong overall manufacturing management skills and will focus on improving production processes and production scheduling. You will need to have a background in fabrication, in the defense industry, be able to lead and influence the existing and very capable supervisory team, and be very well grounded in Lean, SPC and Six Sigma practices and applications.
You will work with the Program and Production team to transition product to high-volume, low quantity, R&D hardware fabrication, (specifically many unique, one-off and low quantity items); ensure resolution of day-to-day productionissues, and maintain and develop product manufacturing procedures.
Additional responsibilities include process improvement, program planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting on program assignment; participateing in cost estimating and work area conceptualization for business development as needed
Requirements
BS degree in a technical field; prefer BS in ME, EE, IE
8or more years in defense manufacturing environment including at least4 years in senior supervisory or management role
Strong, hands-on familiarity with production management software and tools
Experiencein electrical and mechanical fabrication environments
Industrial experience in scheduling and prioritizing work to meet conflicting delivery requirements; assessing impact of quick react jobs on existing work flow.
Knowledge of automated assembly equipment, demonstrated hands-on mechanical ability
Strong background in SPC, Lean and Six Sigma
Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite
