JOB SUMMARY
The Market Research Analyst evaluates and analyzes apartment market and economic data that will be presented in apartment market publications and other products from the perspective of our clients. The Market Research Analyst is responsible for understanding economic, demographic, and supply and demand trends for the U.S. and how they impact real estate fundamentals. This individual performs quality assurance testing to examine market performance results to identify key trends that need further investigation, takes the lead in investigating these trends and works in conjunction with the Market Modelers and Economists by evaluating forecasts for both the metro-level and the submarket-level.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills, taking the lead in evaluating initial information produced by the data collections group and providing editorial team input on metro-level and submarket-level forecasting.
• Accumulate, format, analyze and disseminate third-party economic, demographic and real estate data.
• Manage overall quality of apartment data.
• Analyze preliminary data trends at the property-level and as data is aggregated up to the submarket-level and metro-level including relevant categorizations of the data.
• Create new analysis to incorporate into MPF Research products, creating and implementing report graphics, maps and photos, and helping to define needed database enhancements.
• Provide input for analytical content and appropriate graphics, tables/charts, product formatting, etc. for special projects such as industry events, conferences and presentations.
• Work with vendors, such as software providers and third party data providers, as appropriate.
• Additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum of 3 years experience in an analysis role within the real estate industry
• Knowledge of the apartment industry supply and demand fundamentals with experience transforming data into meaningful analysis and logical conclusions required
• Advanced skills in MS Excel and MS Access required; strong knowledge of Word and PowerPoint
• Experience with SQL Server and statistical analysis tools such as SPSS and SAS are a plus
• Experience with mapping software such as MapPoint a plus
• Knowledge of GIS concepts and software a plus
• Ability to work within strict deadlines
• Works well in a team setting but takes ownership of assigned tasks.
