Market Segment Manager/Secondary Schools and Universities

About the Job

Our client is conducting a search for an individual with a strong analytical marketing background who will be responsible to identify key market drivers and then prioritizing market opportunities for the client's very specific product in secondary schools, colleges and universities on a nationwide basis. We are looking specifically for an individual who has demonstrated a successful track record of leading marketing and business development functions in the secondary and post secondary school segments.

Organizational Relationship:

The Segment Manager will report to the Vice President of Marketing and Product Management and will work alongside the other key functions of Marketing Communications, Market Intelligence and Product Management.  The Segment Manager will work collaboratively with the Global Sales Group to achieve overall sales revenue, market development and customer satisfaction objectives.

Key Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead role in determining market segment requirements and go-to-market plans for the segment on a national basis.
  • Collect market data internal and external sources and produce quantitative analysis covering market size, growth rate, profitability, industry cost structures, distribution channels, market trends, competitor information, and key success factors.
  • Develop ongoing marketing, positioning and communications strategy for customers and partners that differentiates the offering, establishes the client as the leading supplier, and drives qualified lead generation for the Global Sales Team.
  • Monitor regulatory developments closely to determine and communicate high value incentive-driven opportunities.
  • Develop necessary financial models to evaluate and prioritize marketing efforts within market segments and across sales territories.
  • Develop annual budgets.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of strong business-to-business product marketing experience in all phases of bringing new products and features to the secondary and post secondary school segments, from conception to launch and on-going improvement/iteration.
  • MBA strongly preferred along with strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated successful track record of leading marketing and business development functions.
  • Strong team-oriented approach along with exceptional communication skills, including interpersonal, writing and speaking.
  • Comfort with the entrepreneurial culture of a fast growing organization in an ever-changing industry.
  • Prior sales, advocacy and international experience a plus.
  • Some travel required.
