General Description


The Marketing Communications (MarCom) Manager reports to the VP of Marketing and is responsible for creating interest and demand for Traxxas products through display advertising, e-mail, direct mail, the Internet, press releases, events, product packaging, and television/video.  In addition, the MarCom Manager is responsible for developing and executing the concept and copywriting for all collateral pieces such as advertising, press releases, direct mail, POP, catalogs, web resources, video production, etc.  The MarCom manager acts as a gatekeeper to maintain a consistent company image and positioning in the marketplace. He/she works with the Creative Director on concept and design, and coordinates the campaigns within the other marketing departments. The MarCom Manager interacts closely with Sales to ensure a consistent product pull through. The MarCom Manager is responsible for preparing a detailed annual budget and for tracking and maintaining the budget; and is responsible for collecting and maintaining direct mail, e-mail, and public relations contact databases. It is critical that the MarCom Manager have or be able to rapidly acquire a broad range of Traxxas and R/C industry product knowledge.


Primary Responsibilities:



  • The MarCom Manager works with the VP of Marketing to create, write, design, and maintain all collateral marketing materials such as advertising, video scripts, presentations, press releases, product packaging, website content, direct response pieces, sales training materials, catalogs, and more.
  • The MarCom manager works with the Creative Director, Webmaster, and other department managers and administrators to execute the timely production and display of all marketing materials.
  • The MarCom Manager creates, oversees, and is responsible for all content to ensure all communications, art, and photography are uniform and consistent, and meet the company’s branding strategies and guidelines. 
  • Leads the development and manages the on-going maintenance of company websites. Develops high-impact web strategies based on the company’s needs and sales objectives.
  • Responsible for proposing, scheduling, and managing the entire consumer media display campaign and schedule to create demand and awareness for the company’s products. This includes advertising, promotions, tradeshows and events, new product launches, and online visibility.
  • Works closely with Copywriters and Product Managers to identify key selling points and target related information and communication.
  • Works closely with Sales to incorporate promotions and prioritize product visibility.
  • Responsible for creating and managing collateral materials for trade shows and other marketing events including handouts, promotions, product, logistics, staffing, travel, and displays.
  • Responsible for revenue objectives from selling/promoting the company’s products directly via direct mail, direct e-mail, inside sales channels, and the Internet.
  • Coordinates with Inside & Channel Sales to ensure production of direct response mailings to the customer base, resellers, and selected target lists. Manages and coordinates the execution of mailings including concept, design/production, database management, fulfillment, tracking/analysis, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining the company’s customer contact database--either directly or indirectly to ensure that it is clean, current, organized, and accessible for direct mailings, and direct e-mail.
  • Responsible either directly or indirectly for registration data entry from cards or via import from the Web site.
  • Negotiates the best pricing, signs insertion orders, and places ads and commercials.
  • Coordinates dates and manages fulfillment requirements throughout the departments.
  • Creates tracking systems for ads and promotions that are built in during the design process and linked to fulfillment to measure the effectiveness of each campaign.  Prepares quarterly reports documenting the ROI.
  • Ensures total accuracy of materials including specific product information and proofing elements (grammar, punctuation, trademark usage, dates, prices, etc.).
  • Leads the development of the annual marketing communications budget. Monitors and tracks budget expenses, and provides quarterly reporting.

Requirements


The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in Marketing or Advertising, or have equivalent senior-level work experience of 10+ years. The MarCom Manager must have or be able to rapidly acquire a broad range of Traxxas and Radio Control industry product knowledge. Experience in a similar or related hobby or enthusiast industry is helpful.


·         Minimum Bachelor's degree in Marketing, English, Advertising, Business, or equivalent.


·         Minimum 5-7 years experience in a management or leadership role in Marketing, Advertising, or Communications.


·         Charismatic leader who adjusts leadership style to motivate diverse groups to achieve extraordinary goals.


·         Expert in creative and business writing, including a strong command of grammar and punctuation. Well-developed written presentation, organization, and editing skills. Articulates ideas clearly and concisely in a variety of settings, adjusting the message to match the audience. Writing samples will be required.


·         Well-documented excellent design sensibility that recognizes and promotes next-level visuals and functionality.


·         Well-documented management experience demonstrating a big-picture focus and the ability to effectively manage and lead a team while prioritizing and completing projects under strict deadlines.


·         Strong work ethic, excellent time management and organizational skills, and a very precise and detail-oriented mindset in all areas of marketing execution.


·         Self-starter. Assertively takes on challenging responsibilities and holds self ultimately accountable for results and performance.


·         Well-documented analytical and communication skills that demonstrate the ability to identify needs and communicate them internally throughout different levels of an organization and externally to customers.


·         Expert problem-solver. Sorts through complex issues and conducts comparative analysis of multiple solutions.


·         Self-starter with the ability to multi-task and be productive in a busy environment with simultaneous output requirements across multiple marketing disciplines. Flexible and proactive with the ability to react quickly when the need arises.


·         Experience with research and data analysis to identify and report on sales and customer trends.


·         Proficient in Microsoft Office; PowerPoint, Word, Publisher, Excel, Outlook and Access. Experience and understanding in a wide variety of production techniques and costs for various collateral marketing materials.


·         Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule with travel to support marketing initiatives.


·         Provide a strong record of marketing work that can be reviewed which demonstrates past success, writing ability, creativity, and analytical thinking.
