Materials Development Chemist

The Position:

As an industry leader in the development and manufacturer of rubber based components for the automotive, medical devices, and aerospace markets. We have an immediate need for a talented and creative Materials Development Chemist. This senior level individual will contribute their skills to the successful development to the next generation of rubber based components which will further advance the current standard of excellence and help to meet customer needs and expectation for new market opportunities. As an integral member of the new product development team—you will need to bring and creative an innovative approach to the development process. This broad based position will require an experience individual to apply current knowledge of rubber chemistry, out-of-the-box mentality, and a “can-do” attitude.

The successful candidate will be able to integrate with a multi-functional team in order to deliver product updates and new products through a rigorous development and product delivery process.

Additional responsibilities would likely include:

  1. Develops new rubber based formulations for all product families.
  2. Analytical testing of polymer products will include (FT-IR, TGA, DSC).
  3. Evaluates findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment, or processes, or to develop applications of findings to new uses.
  4. Plans and conducts complex engineering experiments to test, prove, modify theoretical propositions on basis or research findings
  5. Documentation of the new product development process; i.e., define product specs, oversee product testing, evaluate product performance against QSR requirements
  6. Requires attributes of effective communication, influence, persuasion, and a can-do attitude.

 

The Requirements:

* BS/MS Chemistry or Polymer Engineering degree with 6-10 years of experience with demonstrable track record of product formulation success.

* Well-versed in testing and instrumentation, preferably with rubber based materials.

              * Well-tuned to the collaboration process necessary for an efficient and effective product          development process.
