JOB SUMMARY:
Provides general, non-diagnostic assistance to mechanics. Completes routine work in the areas of tire changing, minor electrical, and accident repairs, including the completion of all the appropriate computer and paperwork. Completes various non-technical tasks including janitorial duties, routine parts stocking, counting and local pick-ups.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists Mechanic(s) on minor routine tractor and trailer repairs which do not require or involve in depth training or specialty knowledge (i.e. express related work including tire changing, etc.).
2. Reads paper and electronic instructions to understand, document and close work orders.
3. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of facility, inside and outside, and equipment. (e.g. service and/or charge batteries.)
4. Utilizes computer system (M5) to accurately create, track, and complete work order repairs including the tracking of time (labor hours), parts used and work completed.
5. Communicates with internal customers (i.e. other shop associates, drivers, DRIVER BUSINESS LEADERs, etc.) on such things as stances, wait times, reasons for repair decisions and status updates.
6. Utilizes forklift and company vehicles to unload, stock, and pick up parts at local vendors, dealers and suppliers.
7. Steam cleans and washes a wide range of parts and equipment.
8. Loads and unloads small and large parts and packages.
9. Performs manual paper tasks (i.e. permits application) and general computer use.
10. Stocks and maintains parts inventory correctly and verifies invoices.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Mechanical aptitude.
2. Basic computer key board skills. Exposure to windows based computer systems, preferred.
3. Technical reading aptitude (i.e. electronic service bulletins; auto repair manuals).
4. Drivers license with demonstrated safe motor vehicle operation.
5. Excellent customer service, oral and written communication, and teambuilding skills
6. Must possess a valid drivers license.
