Job Description: This position is responsible for providing technical leadership in the area of product development with specific responsibilities for Fluid Mechanics and managing the mechanical engineering group responsible for design, development and realization of innovative, robust and reliable fluidic solutions for medical devices. Senior Level Mechanical Engineering Manager, with demonstrated ability to plan, direct, and conduct engineering research and development activities and provide original concepts and designs for fluidic and heat transfer systems. Assignments relate to design and qualification of pneumatic, hydraulic, and thermodynamic systems in our Medical Diagnostic Systems (blood analyzers).
· Provide technical and design expertise in the design of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
· Provide technical expertise to fluidic actuation, sensing, and control of diagnostic products.
· Select, specify and integrate pneumatic components such as valves, solenoid valves, compressors, vacuum systems, pressure sensors and pumps.
· Select, specify and integrate active and passive heating and cooling components such as Pelletier devices, chillers, thermocouples and resistive heating elements.
· Develop system architectures, focusing qualification, and commercialization of pneumatic, thermodynamic, and hydraulic systems for our Medical Diagnostic systems.
· Use DFMA principles to drive simplicity into the designs
· Provide leadership in planning, direction and oversight of engineering research and development activities and provide original concepts and designs for fluidic and heat transfer control systems.
· Provide leadership in developing, maintaining and oversight of mechanical engineering plans to ensure project objectives and deliverables are predictably and consistently achieved.
· Ensure compliance with project plan time lines and successful commercialization of the high quality, easily manufactured products, in order to meet both internal and customer requirements.
· Guide preparation of very complex sketches, design layouts and other specifications.
· Develop integrated error budgets and risk analysis for designs.
· Develop very complex prototypes for testing and providing technical assistance on design feasibility.
· Guides the review of very complex product designs to ensure they work as required and that design and /or revisions avoiding infringements of patents that are not controlled by the company.
· Develop standardization of very complex materials, components and assemblies, and ensure material compatibility is carefully considered.
· Develop and maintain detailed and comprehensive records of all inventive ideas, designs and improvements.
Provide leadership in developing, maintaining and oversight of mechanical engineering plans to ensure project objectives and deliverables are predictably and consistently achieved. Guides preparation of very complex sketches, design layouts, and other specifications. Develops very complex review of results to determine that products perform in the intended manner.
