Job Summary
ALSTOM Hydro US Inc. is seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers based in our home office. The office is located in the south metro area of Denver, Colorado, which is about fifteen miles from Downtown Denver and conveniently located to several surrounding suburban neighborhoods. ALSTOM Hydro's office offers a quiet working environment with the atmosphere of a small business.
Mechanical Engineering encompasses a variety of engineering assignments such as planning, designing, and modifying machinery, equipment and products.
Under limited direction, perform a variety of complex engineering assignments requiring in-depth knowledge of a specific engineering discipline plus an understanding of related disciplines to cost effectively achieve objectives.
Essential Responsibilities
- Participate in the coordination of the engineering activities. Transmit the required information to others working on the project from pre-acquisition phase to final execution of the projects. Participate to the resolution of problems, and establish corrective measures.
- Make technical studies and documentation while complying with the regulations of the standardized procedures. Respecting contractual requirements by minimizing the costs and the completion dates of engineering. Validate and check the result of the technical studies.
- Person in charge for the technical documentation of project. Respects the internal and contractual requirements. Validates the contents, checks exactitude and ensures updates.
- Within the framework of the projects, provide the technical support required by other services of the unit and to the subcontractors.
- Liaise and collaborate with others in engineering team and related positions, entities, and resources and identify and communicate related requirements.
- Interpret related data; and provide presentations and documentation/reports as needed
Education
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum 5 years extensive related experience, preferably in hydropower generation
- Knowledge of hydroelectric power generation, transmission and distribution
- Working knowledge of new technologies. Proficient in Microsoft office products including Word, Excel and Power Point
- Proficient with engineering programs and software;
- Excellent reasoning ability, critical thinking skills and organizational ability
- Willingness and ability to work well in a team environment as well as work alone
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Willingness and ability to travel.
- Ability to be proactive in seeking and implementing initiatives to improve operations and increase customer satisfaction
