Micro Systems Engineering, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of BIOTRONIK Gmbh., Inc. now has an exciting opportunity available for a Mechanical Engineer in beautiful Portland Oregon.
As an Advanced Mechanical Design team member, employ broad, multi-disciplinary expertise to develop innovative design solutions and manufacturing methods for components, modules, and interconnects used in active implantable medical devices.
The Mechanical Engineer's responsibilities will include the following:
Cross functional project leader to develop innovative component, module and interconnect designs and advanced test and assembly equipment.
Equipment development for assembly, test and quality assurance of medical surface-mount circuits and components.
Software development for vision, motion, control and sensor applications.
Detailed mechanical design and analysis for custom fabricated hardware.
Specification of off-the-shelf sensors, actuators, manipulators, etc.
Device mechanical design studies and assembly process design.
Custom electro-mechanical component design (e.g. transformers, communication coils, feedthroughs, interconnects).
Component and device tolerance analysis.
Thermal and mechanical finite element analysis.
The qualifications for this position include:
Must have a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Five years experience minimum.
Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD package.
Software development experience.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work with all levels of the company (technical and non-technical), as well as with suppliers and customers.
Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
Some experience working with hybrid and/or surface-mount electronic manufacturing desired.
Knowledge of materials and component selection for electro-mechanical design applications desired.
Experience with controls, vision, sensors and automation desired.
Demonstrated skills in planning and tracking multiple and diverse projects desired.
