Position Title: Pressure Vessel Specialist

Position Description: The Pressure Vessel Specialist fulfills a plant equipment technical specialist consulting position on the corporate research and engineering staff, and provides support to company refineries on a global or regional basis. This engineer provides in-depth technical leadership and support related specifically to pressure vessels, with a focus on troubleshooting, asset improvement, technology selection, and standards development.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Analyze refinery pressure vessel performance and drive site asset improvement in areas of safety, reliability, environmental performance, and equipment capability
- Support major capital projects and provide leadership in areas of pressure vessel design consulting, technical quality assurance, and start-up assistance
- Assist refineries in equipment specification and application of new pressure vessel technology
- Provide global and/or regional technical leadership via formal technical networks and work groups
- Develop and deliver technical training for plant engineering organizations
- Develop and maintain technical standards and guidelines
Background Requirements:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSME degree preferred)
- Extensive pressure vessel engineering experience, preferably with an operating company in a refinery setting, major engineering contractor (petrochemical or heavy industry), or large fabrication shop
- In-depth familiarity with petrochemical industry standards (ASME and API codes) associated with pressure vessels
- Experience should encompass pressure vessel design and specification as well as plant installation, maintenance, stress analysis (FEA), and troubleshooting
- Experience in the application of Fitness-for-Service (FFS) methods
- Familiarity with materials selection, welding processes, and NDE methods
